Colin and his daughters have represented ABC Hockey over the last several years. He has been instrumental in the design of the ABC Hockey website and associated branding strategies.
Reece Gilden won the Men's Golden Stick holding off a tight challenge from Gerard Tan who must now be regretting introducing Reece to the club!
Reece said: "Winning the golden stick means a hell of a lot to me this year.
I was very close to not playing hockey this year and I have to give a massive thank you to Gerard for not letting that happen. By coincidence I met Gerard before the season started and told him how I was on the fence about playing because I didn't have a team up here in Auckland that I was committed to anymore. He quickly told me about the P3 side he was playing in and although I missed trials I had an email from GB that night saying there was a spot for me. I am very grateful to have met Gerard and also thankful to GB for being very welcoming and making room for me even though he had no idea who I was.
The P3 men's side is an exceptional group of lads who all want to play good hockey and win. They also want to have fun and socialise and I think our team culture was excellent this season and that culture transferred into how we played our hockey and was a big reason for our success. Although we didn't go all the way, what a hell of a season it was. It was a great feeling being back on the field and slotting some balls in the net and I hope to enjoy more of the same next year."
