Winter Club Trials 14th February & 8th March

The 2026 winter club season looks a little different this year! With a later start date and play on Matariki weekend plus the new Youth competition make sure you read all club communications to stay updated.

The winter club season starts on the weekend of the 11th/12th April, after Easter weekend, and with play on Matariki weekend the only non-play weekend this season is Kings Birthday weekend in June. Finals Day will be Saturday 22nd August.

New in 2026 is a 10-week Youth Grade competition on Sunday mornings in Term 2 (19th April - 28th June). This competition is for Years 8-10 with Year 10s having the option to play Youth or Club in 2026. From 2027 the Youth competition will be mandatory for Years 8-10 with players moving to club hockey from Year 11. To be eligible to play in the club youth competition players must also play for their school team if their school has one.

For the 2026 season, we are planning to enter at least 22 club teams; providing opportunity for everyone from entry level to Black Sticks. We will have teams in all grades with two teams in P3 Women, D1 Men & Women, D2 Men & Women, D3 Men & Women and one or two Youth Competition Boys & Girls teams if numbers allow.

P1-D3 Trials will be held on Saturday 14th February and Sunday 8th March at the times shown below for each grade. Youth Trials will be held on the weekend of 14th & 15th March (Date and time TBC)

Please note the following:

Please arrive to your trial at least 30 minutes before the start time and check in with the selectors running the trial. Please ensure you attend your trial with a BLACK and WHITE shirt.

No player is guaranteed in a team, regardless of the grade or team they played in during 2025. If you are not selected for the team you have indicated and you are not trialling elsewhere, you will be selected for the team selectors deem appropriate. If you are trialling elsewhere and get an offer from another club please advise selectors as soon as possible before making your final decision.

By registering for trials you are giving your consent for the club to use your name and any photographs for ABC Hockey promotion on the website and other club managed media. 

This registration is just for trials there is also a separate registration process to register for the North Harbour Hockey competition once the teams are selected and confirmed.
