This tournament was created to support the growth and participation levels in the sport of hockey – with particular focus on under-represented ethnic groups. New Zealand Indians, Maori and Pasifica are the initial heritage hockey grounds that New Zealand Heritage Hockey has adopted. There are plans to extend its reach out to other heritage organisations in the future.
